➤ একজন আরব পণ্ডিত লিখেছেন, “ধনীরা বলে, পয়সা রোজগার করা সবচেয়ে শক্ত কাজ, কিন্তু জ্ঞানীরা বলে, না – জ্ঞানার্জন সবচেয়ে শক্ত কাজ। ” এখন প্রশ্ন, কার দাবিটা ঠিক, ধনীর না জ্ঞানীর ? আমি নিজে জ্ঞানের সন্ধানে ফিরি, কাজেই আমার পক্ষে নিরপেক্ষ হওয়া কঠিন। তবে একটি জিনিস আমি লক্ষ্য করেছি সেইটে আমি বিচক্ষণ জনের চক্ষুগোচর করতে চাই। ধনীর পরিশ্রমের ফল হ’ল টাকা। সে ফল যদি কেউ জ্ঞানীর হাতে তুলে দেয় তবে তিনি সেটা পরমানন্দে কাজে লাগান ধনীদের চেয়ে অনেক ভালো পথে, ঢের উত্তম পদ্ধতিতে।
Translation:
A certain Arab scholar has remarked, “The rich say that be most difficult thing in the world is to earn money, but according to the wise the hardest thing is to acquire knowledge.” The question now is, who are right, - the rich or the wise ? I am a seeker after knowledge; so it is difficult for me to be impartial. But I have observed one thing in particular which I should like to bring to the notice of sensible people. The fruits of a rich man’s labour are wealth. If these fruits are placed in the hands of the wise, they use them with great delight in a far better way than the rich.
➤ বর্ষা নেমেছে গরম আর নেই। থেকে থেকে মেঘের গর্জন আর বিদ্যুতের চমকানি চলছে। পাহাড়ে ঝর্ণার জল বেড়ে উঠলো। নদীতে বন্যা দেখা দিয়েছে। সরষে খেত ডুবিয়ে দিয়েছে। বেড়া ভেঙে দিয়েছে। বেচারা গোরুগুলোর বড় দুর্গতি। এক হাঁটু পাকে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে।
Translation:
Monsoon has come. The heat is gone. The roar of thunder and the flash of lightning are going on occasionally. The water has increased in the fountains of the hills. The rivers are now flooded. The mustard fields are drowned. The fences are broken. The poor cows are suffering a lot. They are standing in knee-deep mud.
➤ এ সংসারে কেউই আবদ্ধ থাকিতে ভালবাসে না। সকলেই স্বাধীন হইতে চায়। যদি তুমি একটি পাখি ধর এবং তাহাকে খাঁচায় পুরিয়া রাখ, পাখিটি কেবলই খাঁচার বাহির হইতে চেষ্টা করিবে। যদি তাহাকে ভালোরুপে খাইতে দাও ও ভালো জল পান করিতে দাও তথাপি সে খাঁচায় থাকিতে ভালোবাসিবে না, সে বনে উড়িয়া যেতে চাইবে। যদি উড়িয়া পলাইতে না পায় তাহা হইলে সে দুঃখে শুকাইয়া যাইবে ও অবশেষে হয়তো মরিয়া যাইবে। তোমার দেওয়া ভালো খাদ্য ও জল তাহার মোটেই ভাল লাগিবে না।
Translation:
Nobody loves to be kept confined in this world. All want to be free. If you catch a bird and put it inside a cage, the bird will only try to get out of the cage. If you keep it well fed and provide fresh water to drink, still the bird would not love to stay inside the cage, rather would like to flee away to the forest. If it cannot flee away, it will wither in grief, and perhaps will die. The good food and water provided by you would not be liked by it at all.
